Clayton & Casey Kirchhoff grew up farming. Their father Craig was born in Nebraska growing corn on the family farm and in 1986, he moved his wife and their two boys to Clarksburg to pursue a job opportunity for a small vineyard operation. In 1997 they planted a vineyard of their own which is now the source of the Kirchhoff Chardonnay and in 2008 they purchased an 18 acre estate which they planted to Spanish and French varietals using planting material from Markus Bokisch and Tegan Passalacqua. Today the vineyards are dry farmed, following organic practices and the wines are made without any additions using native yeasts and spontaneous fermentations under the watchful eye of Clayton, winemaker at Hudson Vineyards.
