Mike and Carey Skinner are Angelinos who started this project after finding out that Mike’s great, great, great grandfather was one the owner of one of California’s very first commercial vineyards. The story is told on their website, but it happened as simply as locating a town on Skinner on the map of the Sierra Foothills. They have employed Chris Pittenger
(former Assistant st Marcassin, Biale and Torbrek, also owner of Gros Ventre) to make their wines- All Rhone Varietals. The wines have received numerous accolades including inclusion as a Top 100 SF Chronicle wine in 2012, ”Top Producer” in Jon Bonne’s New California Wines book. In 2013 Chris was written up as a Chronicle ”Winemaker to Watch”.
