PERFECT SEASON

Norma Knobel Hunt and her late husband, Kansas City Chiefs founder Lamar Hunt, became
intrigued by wine, and the soils in which it was grown during numerous trips to Tuscany.
But it was during a trip to the Bay Area for a Chiefs football game that they both discovered
Knight’s Valley and its striking similarities to Tuscany in both landscape and climate. Inspired
by this they purchased the Bidwell Creek Vineyard in 2000 on the eastern edge of the
valley and started the long and arduous process of bringing this neglected vineyard to
prominence. With the help of renowned vineyard manager, Jim Barbour the first vines were
tightly planted in 2002 and are farmed organically. The incomparable Philippe Melka has
been the winemaker from the start and they produce roughly 250 cases annually.
