Steve and Mary Delmas Robertson have Bay Area ties and cut their wine industry teeth in the Napa Valley but found their true calling, along with their daughter Brooke, in the Rocks District of Milton-Freewater, a sub appellation of the Walla Walla Valley AVA, which consists of a single soil series, an alluvial fan of baseball sized, basalt cobbles.

Their vineyard, SJR, was planted in 2007 exclusively to Rhone varietals and consists of 13 total acres. It is a family affair at Delmas with Steve responsible for the brand’s vision while Mary heads up sales and marketing and Brooke engineers cutting edge farming techniques.

They currently produce two wines under the watchful eye of Billo Navarane: a small amount of Viognier sold winery direct and a Syrah that is generally co-fermented with roughly 8% Viognier.

This is a brand to get on board with early while you can.
